PARUPPU THOGAYAL RECIPE


Paruppu-thogayal

This is my husband's favorite thogayal. It tastes the best when paired with vatral kuzhambu . Its is a delectable combination.

INGREDIENTS
1 cup - 200ml
  • Moong dal - 1/8 cup ( 2 tbsp)
  • Toor dal - 1/8 cup (2 tbsp)
  • Red chilly - 1 no
  • Grated coconut - 1 tbsp 
  • Pepper corns - 1/2-1 tsp ( adjust)
  • Garlic cloves - 6 nos
  • Salt - As reqd
METHOD
  • Take a kadai and add a tbsp of oil. Fry the dals along with red chillies.
  • Once its cool, grind adding salt , grated coconut and little water to make a paste.
  • Crush the pepper corns and garlic cloves using a mortar n pestle,add to this thogayal & run the mixie.
  • Add little water if required to bring the desired consistency.
Mix with plain rice adding sesame oil ..Enjoy !!

  20. The combo is best...infact even better with milagu kuzhambu! Usually I make it just with toor dhal ...hv never tried with moong dhal combo and garlic is new too!

  26. this is one of my fav dishes that my mom makes. i am far from my mom in loc and also pregnant. am carving for this thogayal, the taste that my mom makes :( but fortunately this recipe of urs match my mom's nearly though not exactly. thank u :) :)

    I tried the paruppu thogayal it came out nice. Small request can you please give spoon measurements for the dhals along with the 1/8 cup etc. The spice level I felt 1 teaspoon of pepper was high especially for kids it would be nice if you can give a range of 1/2 to 1tsp. This will help people like me. Thank you.
