Ingredients

  • Moong dal
  • Ginger
  • Vegetables Carrot, raw banana, potato, beans, drumstick, brinjal
  • Onion
  • Coconut
  • Tomato
  • Tamarind
  • Coconut milk
  • Jaggery
  • Toor dal
  • Chilli Red chilli, Green chilli
  • Salt
  • Water
  • Coconut oil

Instructions

  • To make Onam sadya easily, I follow pressure cooker method.
  • Soak rice ada in hot water for 30 minutes.
  • Grate 2 to 3 coconuts required for Payasam, Coconut milk, Avial, Thoran, Kootu curry based on your menu.
  • Pressure cook toor dal along with vegetables in a small container. Open and mix them well. Set aside.
  • Dry roast and pressure cook moong dal for parippu curry. Along with it, keep the chopped vegetables for thoran.
  • In another pressure cooker, flash cook vegetables for avial. i.e Pressure cook in high flame for one whistle.
  • Soak rice ada in
  • Make Puli inji, Paruppu curry, Thoran, Kootu curry, Avial.
  • Lastly prepare payasams as per your plan. Fry Papad, make pickle
  • Serve Onam sadya in proper serving order.
