Recently I saw this Apple chikoo milkshake/ Apple Sapota milkshake recipe in the milkshake menu of Salem Lakshmi hotel. When I saw it titled as Queen palace milkshake, I got tempted to try at home. The combination of apple, chiku/ sapodilla / sapota , ice cream, milk, vanilla and honey sounds new, healthy and interesting as well.

I know many kids would refuse to eat whole fruits. For those fussy kids, fruits milkshake is the best option. As we add ice cream to it, it gives a thick, creamy taste with a nice flavor. Raksha never touches sapota fruit even though she had read its health benefits like its good for eyes, bones, develops immunity etc. But today she had a small glass of this milkshake without any complaints. We too liked it very much. Its so easy to make.
Just combine all the ingredients and blend it. Tasty apple chikoo milkshake would be ready in minutes. Friends, do try this Queen palace milkshake recipe and let me know your feedback. Ok, lets see how to make it with step by step pictures.

Quick Notes for US & Abroad Kitchens
- Apple Variety: Sweet and crisp red apples like Gala, Fuji or Honeycrisp blend smoothly without overpowering the delicate sapota flavor. Avoid tart varieties like Granny Smith.
- Chikoo / Sapota Sourcing: In US Indian grocery stores (like Patel Brothers or Subzi Mandi), sapota is easily found in the fresh produce section. Look for fruit that gives slightly to gentle thumb pressure. If fresh ones are unavailable, frozen unsweetened chikoo slices or pulp in the freezer section work well.
- Milk & Dairy-Free Choices: Whole milk (pasteurized homogenized or vitamin D milk) gives the richest, cafe-style body. For a plant-based dairy-free version, oat milk or unsweetened almond milk blends smoothly without separating.
- Sweetener Alternatives: Raw honey pairs wonderfully with chikoo, but pure maple syrup, jaggery powder or unrefined cane sugar can also be used based on personal preference.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, absolutely! If you want to skip the store-bought vanilla ice cream but still crave that thick, luxurious, cafe-style texture, frozen bananas are the perfect natural substitute. Simply slice and freeze a ripe banana for a few hours before blending it with your apple and sapota. The frozen banana yields a rich, creamy consistency and adds natural sweetness, making the milkshake a much healthier, nutrient-dense option for your daily breakfast without sacrificing the taste.
Yes, I highly recommend washing and completely peeling the chikoo (sapota) before adding it to your blender. While the skin of the fruit is technically edible, it has a slightly rough, gritty texture that will take away from the smooth, creamy mouthfeel of a perfect milkshake. It is also crucial to slice the fruit open and carefully remove every single black seed, as blending the seeds will make the drink bitter.
Definitely! Both organic jaggery powder (vellam) and palm sugar (karupatti) are excellent, traditional alternatives to honey or refined white sugar. In fact, the earthy, deep caramel notes of jaggery pair beautifully with the natural malt-like flavor of the chikoo. If you are using jaggery, make sure it is a clean, impurity-free powder so it blends smoothly into the chilled milk. Just keep in mind that using these traditional sweeteners will give your milkshake a slightly darker, richer color.
